The block heath Eibenstein near Gmünd is a unique nature reserve in Austria. A similar scenic beauty as there is only 2000 km away in the north of Europe in Scandinavia. It seems as if a Nordic island has gotten lost in the heart of Europe. There are red pines and birches, juniper and heather. But there too, and that's the most impressive, huge granite blocks, often oddly shaped. In the Blockheide are unique, nature-shaped, fabled natural monuments, which were formed by the weather influences from these granite blocks, and many of which have their own name, such as. the Christophori and mushroom stone, house, cone, dog, life and pyramid stone or the devil bread loaf. These and other popular names and the related legends suggest that centuries ago the church did not have it so easy to eradicate the Germanic folk beliefs. The Nature Park Blockheide Eibenstein, this Nordic-style natural paradise in Austria, offers visitors rest and relaxation at any time of the year, and makes it easy for them to escape the hectic pace of our days for a short time.
