National Stamp Exhibition "20 years GDR" In preparation for the National Stamp Exhibition "20 years German Democratic Republic" the first special postal stamp of this series will be published. They want to make the exhibition a cultural and social highlight and have therefore invited the Friends of Literature, Fine Arts and Music as well as the Nature, Home and Photography groups of the German Cultural Association. Organizer of the exhibition in Magdeburg is the newly founded Philatelistenverband of the GDR in the German Cultural Association, which thus has to pass its first major test. With the formation of this association at the Central Philatelic Conference, attended by almost 300 delegates and guests on 19 and 20 April 1969 in Leipzig, a new section began in the development of the widespread and popular recreational activity philately in the GDR, the characterized by greater rights and greater duties of philatelists. "The collectors organized in the Philatelist Association of the GDR realize the basic tasks of the German Cultural Association in their work, helping to make our lives more and more cultural, rich and beautiful, and to liberate people's creative powers with the means of their hobby The occupation with the stamp and other postal documents is a hobby that serves rest and relaxation, at the same time conveys versatile knowledge and creates awareness ... For the friends of the stamp in the GDR is philatelic activity is a form of cultural-political work that contributes to the universal education and education of socialist personalities. " As stated in the new "Guidelines for Philatelic Activities in the GDR", which were adopted at the Leipzig Conference and form the compass for the further path of that modern philately, which developed completely new content and values ​​under socialist conditions. The Statute of the Philatelist Association of the GDR in the German Cultural Association, which was also adopted at the Central Conference in Leipzig, thereby guarantees the further development of socialist democracy, ensures the participation of as many philatelists in solving the growing cultural-political and professional-philatelic tasks. The fact that the friends of the stamp and other postal documents are the first to form their own association within the framework of the German Cultural Association, thus leading other areas in the application of new forms of leadership, means a high recognition of their previous work and, at the same time, a commitment and effort in the future to reinforce. The further organizational structure of the Phillatelistenverbandes of the GDR in the German culture federation will begin in the beginning of 1970 with member meetings and the board elections in the working groups. They are then followed by district and district association conferences and the corresponding elections of district and county councils. The first central board of the association, elected in Leipzig, has 47 representatives from all districts of the GDR. In the coming months, the members of the Philatelistenverbandes will put their work first and foremost in the service of preparing and holding exhibitions and other events for the 20th anniversary of the GDR, including the "National" in Magdeburg. In addition, they are already preparing to celebrate their social gatherings in 1970 with social highlights and events such as Lenin's 100th birthday, the 25th anniversary of the liberation of fascism, and the 25th anniversary of the founding of the German Cultural Association.
