Walt Disney Pictures / Walden Media will present their new fantasy film "The Chronicles of Narnia: The King of Narnia" at the beginning of the Advent season and in anticipation of Christmas - a fantastic story by author Clive Staples Lewis (1898-1963). On December 8, 2005 Shrek director Andrew Adamson newly filmed literary classics, a film that wants to seduce the whole family back to the cinema. Lewis' timeless adventure tells the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter in England during World War II. They enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe as they hide in an old professor's country house. There the children discover a magical, peaceful land inhabited by talking animals, dwarfs, faunas, centaurs and giants and condemned to eternal winter by the wicked White Witch Jadis. Together with the magnanimous, mystical king of Narnia, the lion Aslan, the children take up the fight against the White Witch to break their mighty rule over Narnia in a spectacular final battle and to free Narnia forever from their icy spell. With "The King of Narnia" Lewis published in 1950 the first book in the series "The Chronicles of Narnia", which comprises a total of seven books. Levis was a professor of literature in Oxford for almost thirty years. During this time he was a member of the literary circle "The Inklings", which also Professor J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings. The friendship with the convinced Catholic Tolkien brought Lewis, who had lost his faith as a teenager, back to Christianity. Like Tolkien, he was shaped by the shocking experiences of the First World War on the battlefields of France. The first time the story of Narnia was filmed in 1967 and inspired 1979 as a cartoon. The last filming of the substance took place in 1988.
