Hubert Schmalix was born on 17 December 1952 in Graz and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Already in 1979, his works were shown in Stuttgart at the groundbreaking exhibition "Europe 79 - Art of the 80s", followed in 1980 by an invitation to "Aperto 80" at the Venice Biennale. As a pioneer of the so-called "New Painting" he was also involved in Austria in the most important exhibitions of the time such as "New Painting in Austria" in Graz in 1981 and soon gained international recognition. So he was able to present his work in 1983 in the London Tate Gallery. Today, Schmalix lives and works in Los Angeles and Vienna, teaching at the University of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and as a visiting professor at the University of California in Los Angeles. In 2008, Hubert Schmalix cloaked the Vienna Ringturm on the Danube Canal with a huge floral still life. In the lecture hall at the University of Innsbruck he created in the eighties a sensational mosaic work of art. He also designed the interior of the Church of St. Paul in Salzburg with large frescoes and a colorful sanctuary. In 1998 he was awarded the Vienna Prize for Fine Arts; his works were to be seen in countless exhibitions at home and abroad. The attractive brand motif shows the oil painting "After the Rain" from the year 2014. It is inspired by alpine-romantic pictures of the 19th century, but was translated by the artist into a "pop" imagery.
