The artist Josef Bramer was born in Vienna in 1948 and attended school in Scheibbs / Lower Austria. Afterwards he visited the graphic teaching and research institute. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, he graduated from the master class Rudolf Hausner and received in 1971 the master class. Since then, Josef Bramer has contested countless exhibitions at home and abroad. In 1996 he received the cultural award of the city of Scheibbs for his work. His works can be found in both public and private collections. His poetic-looking work is not only characterized by his unmistakable style, which never submits to fashion, and his deep love for the nature and beauty of his homeland, but above all the portrayal of "Kaspar ", a successor to the classic jesters of old times. As once the jester to his prince so the Kaspar can keep a mirror in front of the observer and tell the truth, even if it should not always be comfortable. Through his loving, finely painted illustrations, Josef Bramer and Kaspar encourage a new way of looking at the world, in the deep belief that it can become better. The picture "Kaspar Winterbild" is an especially endearing example of Josef Bramer's expressive, heartfelt ideas of Kaspar, who seems to draw his audience into the depths of the wintry landscape with the help of the finely painted, leafless trees.
