The special stamp shows the symbolic figure of modern Australia, an excerpt from an 8 x 8 m board of the cycle "The Continents". The surrealist Helmut Leherb (1933-1997) created this work of art in faience technique in a gigantic extent of 380 m2 in the auditorium of the Vienna University of Economics. The unbelievably colorful work of art consists of 3500 ceramic plates, which were further developed by Leherb in a faience technique Italian Faenca were made. At the same time, the artist has also brought back to life the forgotten technique of multi-layered glazes. The artist had to accept many difficulties in a complex production in order to achieve the desired, almost absolute inviolability of the panels.
