Ernst Steiner was born on June 1, 1935 in Winterthur, Switzerland. Already as a 15-year-old he began his artistic education. Until 1952 he sought the basics in the evening courses of Bruno Bischofsberger, before turning to anatomical drawing and figural drawing at the Zurich School of Applied Arts. In 1955 he decided to move to Vienna for further education, where he attended the College of Applied Arts. In 1956, he began a period of travels to the then European centers of the art scene, where he toured, among others, Italy and France, England and Scandinavia. Equipped with diverse experiences, which should accompany him from now on on the way of his artistic development, he returned to Vienna in 1958. In 1984 he became chairman of the artist group "Vereinigung Waldviertler Künstler". Ernst Steiner paints visions, his art does not follow any "ism", he is not obliged to a direct role model.
