The motif shows the protection of foreign merchants as trade fair visitors of the year 1268 by the market count Dietrich v. Landsberg. Also to be understood symbolically, because all visitors of masses were under special protection by church and state. Leipzig is still one of the oldest international trade fairs. The catalog numbers 911 to 970 are postage stamps that were valid for both the American and British zones as well as in the Soviet occupation zone. In the US and British zones until June 22, 1948, in the Soviet zone until July 31, 1948.
