Leipziger Herbstmesse 1968 At the Leipziger Herbstmesse in 1968, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued a multi-colored special postage stamp: Model railways for the Leipzig Autumn Fair 1968 On the special postage stamp for the Leipzig Autumn Fair is a model railway layout with three different vehicle types, a small part of the versatile and faithful production of our toy industry. In the middle of the special postage stamp you can see the replica of a diesel engine VT 137 of the type "Leipzig". The use of such high-performance cars takes place on long journeys, such as in the Vindobona Express on the line Berlin - Prague - Vienna. The models of the diesel-electric multipurpose locomotive, which can be seen at the bottom of the special postage stamp, are supplied in the designs, colors and inscriptions of the Hungarian, Danish and Belgian state railways. Two powerful engines each drive two axles of a bogie. The models of these models are used in the People's Republic of Hungary, Denmark and Belgium in the heavy passenger and freight train service. The narrow-gauge or narrow-gauge railway, which is still in use on some outlying railway lines, also enriches the offer of toy trains. The narrow-gauge tender locomotive of the 99 series of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, pictured in the upper third of the special postage stamp, is one of the most widespread narrow-gauge locomotives and serves both passenger and freight traffic. The detail of the model goes so far that the Heberlein cable brake of the original was imitated.
