Northwest of the market Pernitz, in the administrative district Wiener Neustadt, the eastern Kalkalpenzone Lower Austria near Muggendorf forms a steep valley, which closes the Pernitzer basin against the Myratal. The Myrabach, a small, lively body of water, rises from a lake in the nearby Unterberg (1341 meters above sea level) and emerges through a crevice, the "Myralucke". On the way to the foot of the stone, he overcomes small gradients and forms the famous romantic waterfalls. From the foot of the stone, the now silent Myrabach flows against Pernitz, where it flows into the Piesting. In the 19th century, especially in the time of the Biedermeier, the Myra Falls were a popular tourist destination and have lost none of their attraction until today. The whole wide circle of this area is particularly connected to the work of the painter Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller (1793-1865) and Friedrich Gauermann (1807-1862), who represented and glorified this landscape in many of her paintings again and again. Even today, the Myrafälle are a popular destination for countless tourists who want to get to know the charm of this landscape and want to see this natural spectacle up close.
