The brand image shows the northeastern part of the Hofburg, where the Congress Center has been located since 1958. In the foreground on the right, the brand image is dominated by the monumental equestrian statue of Prince Eugen. It is part of the overall complex of the Heroes' Square and, together with the Archduke Karl Monument opposite, is one of the oldest monumental monuments from the era of Emperor Franz Joseph. Both were created by the sculptor Anton Dominik Fernkorn. Every epoch has left its mark on the Hofburg, making it one of the most important architectural and artistic monuments in Europe today. The King of Bohemia, Ottokar II, who after the extinction of the Babenbergs had gained control of the Austrian lands, began to build the first castle in 1275, at the present place, near the Widmertor and the city wall. During the entire Middle Ages, only insignificant changes were made, except the construction of two water pipes. The magnificent Baroque reconstruction of the castle was not until Charles VI. In 1719, the court stables were built by Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach. In 1723, the construction of the Reich Chancellor Wing was begun by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt and then continued by Emanuel Fischer von Erlach. From 1722 to 1726 the court library and from 1728 to 1734 the winter riding school was built according to the designs of Josef Emanuel Fischer von Erlach.
