The Kahlenbergerdorf was one of those villages, which was united by the law of December 19, 1890 with the imperial and royal city of Vienna to a single local community. However, only part of the land area of the Kahlenbergerdorf was included in the urban area of Vienna, the rest came to Klosterneuburg. The ridges on which the Kahlenbergerdorf is located are those foothills of the mighty mountain range of the Alps, which end here with the Leopoldsberg and fall steeply against the Vienna Basin. The Kahlenbergerdorf, which exists since the 11th century at the foot of today's Leopoldsberg, was originally called "Kahlenberg". The Leopoldsberg was then called Kahlenberg (today Kahlenberg used to be called Schweinsberg or Sauberg or Josephsberg). From this developed much later the name Kahlenbergerdorf. For the first time the place is cited around 1135 as "Chalwenperge". For the period from about 1170 to 1180 already a church in Kahlenbergerdorf is mentioned. The Kahlenbergerdorf owes its uniquely beautiful location to the geographical conditions, framed on three sides by mountains (Leopoldsberg, Kahlenberg, Burgstall) and bounded on the fourth side by the Danube. As a result, the village could hardly expand and not grow beyond the original settlement core.
