The city Bludenz has always occupied an important position within the country Vorarlberg, it was already in the Middle Ages temporarily Grafensitz and then for several centuries through the center and administrative headquarters of the whole Vorarlberg comprehensive dominions Bludenz and Sonnenberg. Even today Bludenz forms as a traffic hub, as the seat of the district captaincy and as a court of the center of the surrounding valleys. Even the numerous prehistoric and prehistoric finds, which were discovered in Bludenz, give valuable information about the old age of a human settlement in this area. The most important sites of Bludenz have entered the specialist literature under the names Montikel, Kleiner Exerzierplatz and Unterstein. The oldest evidence of a settlement could be found in the northeast of today's urban area. They are from the Early Bronze Age (1800 to 1600 BC). Bludenz was mentioned for the first time in the Churrian goods register, which dates from the first half of the 9th century. The first view, by Bludenz from the 17th century, shows the picture of a catastrophe, the city fire of 1638, which reduced the whole city to ruins except for the castle and the church. The brand image shows a motif from Bludenz (Vorarlberg).
