On April 25, 2003, the International Horticultural Exhibition (IGA) in the Hanseatic city of Rostock will open for 171 days for guests from all over the world. Since 1953, every ten years international guests have been invited to the Federal Republic of Germany for the IGA in order to jointly present the current state of horticulture. More than 30 countries from Africa, America, Asia and Europe are represented by gardens and pavilions on the more than 100 hectare exhibition grounds on the banks of the Warnow. Other highlights include the floating gardens on the Warnow, Germany's northernmost cable car, and a hall of more than 10,000 square meters with changing flower and plant shows. By October 11, around three million visitors are expected.
