In the International Year of Women 1975, the German Federal Post Office presents four important German women writers: Else Lasker-Schüler was born on February 11, 1869 in Wuppertal-Elberfeld and died on January 22, 1945 in Jerusalem. She was an Expressionist poet. In their personality, fervent imagination and passionate religiosity of Judaism combined with love for German culture and landscape. The reproduced head pictures of the four women were freely translated by Prof. Aretz for the stamp designs.
