In the International Year of Women 1975, the German Federal Post Office presents four important German women writers: Ricarda Huch, born on 18 July 1864 in Braunschweig, died on 17 November 1947 in Schönberg im Taunus. She was one of the main exponents of neo-romantic literature in poetry and prose. As a historian of rank, she gave descriptive accounts of historical events and figures. She was a passionate fighter for the spiritual and ethical "primal phenomena" of humanity. The reproduced head pictures of the four women were freely translated by Prof. Aretz for the stamp designs.
