The brand image depicts two young hikers in the landscape. A youth hostel is visible in the background. In 1946 the Austrian Youth Hostel Association was founded. Later, another organization in the service of the youth migration movement was added, the Austrian youth hostel. Since 1954, both organizations have formed a working group entitled "Österreichischer Jugendherbergsring". It had a membership of 110,000 in 1960, ranking third in the list of more than 40 youth hostels around the world. The objective of the Austrian Youth Hostel Association is the establishment and support of youth hostels and the care of the youth migration. He belongs to the International Youth Hostel Association, in order to enable his members to migrate abroad and thus to serve international understanding. The publication of this special postage stamp at the beginning of the 1960 hiking season was dedicated to this peoples-connecting idea.
