To the east of the Cistercian Monastery of Heiligenkreuz, which derives its name from a cross particle from Palestine, one can cross the lower part of a mountain slope on a chestnut and lime tree alley, which was probably planted on the occasion of the construction of the plant 1731-1750. On the right, in small chapels, the Stations of the Cross 1 to 11 are housed. At the end of the avenue, on the left, there is a larger chapel (the rear wall is visible on the mark on the left) depicting the Crucified, station 12. Before the stone angels visible in the middle, the path swings to the left and leads over a two-armed staircase back down to street level, where there are also Stations of the Cross, 13 and 14, Descent from the Cross and Entombment. Between the two arms of the staircase on the lower level, a fountain with a Christ figure of the sculptor Giovanni Giuliani, who frequently works in Heiligenkreuz, is installed in the middle wall, whose disciples also made about 30 saints and angels standing between the stations. The last section with the staircase was rebuilt in the 19 th century. The brand artist understandably far from the avenue with the old, in spring not foliated, immensely powerful trees on the fascinating mountains of the Wienerwald in the direction of the thermal city Baden particularly impressed and Therefore, he was kept on the mark.
