For this purpose, the wooden bascule bridge in the Friedrichsgracht 1798 was rebuilt. The result was the Sinusoid drawbridge with two side openings, which are arched in sandstone. This unique construction for Berlin is a technical curiosity for its time and unique for the historical bridges of the GDR. Wooden portals pick up the rollers for the pull chains leading from the flaps to the spill wheel. The box-shaped elbow contains the runway and the guide rails. The chains coming down over the casters carry the counterweights.
