Freshwater fish The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes six multicolored special postage stamps and two miniature sheets with pictures of freshwater fish. The miniature sheets each contain two rows of two special postage stamps. Special cancellation from May 19 to July 18, 1987 Freshwater fish About 45 species of fish inhabit the inland waters of the GDR. Of the species shown, lead and pike are widespread and well-known, while the other species are less common due to their narrower habitat requirements. Except for the lead, the stocks of the presented species are obtained or promoted by artificial insemination and breeding of the eggs and breeding of the brood to catch fish. Also members of the German Anglers Association work in voluntary work in their spare time fish farms.
