Isidore, the little hedgehog, is happy: "Soon there will be hedgehog holidays!" This is how the little spiked hunters call their winter sleep. It starts when the temperature drops below 6 degrees Celsius for a long time. The hedgehogs make themselves comfortable in their building and roll together under grass, leaves and wood to a ball. Her heartbeat slows down and her body temperature drops from 35 to about five degrees Celsius. This helps them to save energy, because in winter they will not find anything to eat. But now in the late summer they still have a lot to do. Every day they leave their dusk at dawn. In the shelter of darkness, they are looking for food. Hedgehogs have to eat a lot and put on a bacon rind. Because only then can they survive the harsh winter. In the special stamp series »For Us Children« a postage stamp has been issued every year since 1993, showing children's motifs. The stamps are as imaginative as they are imaginatively designed: Anyone, whether children or grown-ups, can think up stories in which the colorful figures - clowns, dragons, sea animals or, like this year, a hedgehog - play the main role.
