Guinea pigs are originally from South America. It was not until the 16th century that this rodent species came to Europe. Since the beginning of the 20th century guinea pigs are kept and bred in Germany as pets. They were quickly found to be good for children because they are very sturdy and do not bite as fast as rabbits. The new edition (45 + 20 cents) shows two rosette guinea pigs.
