The upcoming UEFA EURO 2008 ™ will be the largest sporting event ever held in Austria, with the whole of Europe from June 7 to 29, 2008, under the spell of the "most important thing in the world", football. 16 teams will compete for the coveted UEFA EURO Cup at eight different stadiums in Austria and Switzerland. A media event of the first order, which is used by many companies to position themselves in the public domain through various actions. Austrian Post supports and accompanies this eagerly awaited event as National Sponsor. Part of the long-prepared various activities is the publication of truly exceptional special stamps that will delight not only the world-wide crowd of philatelists, but also the (of course much larger) group of football enthusiasts. The aim of these considerations is to achieve a broad impact for the product stamp in general. The new series "Children's Drawings" is the result of an Austrian-wide drawing competition, which was carried out in cooperation with the individual regional school boards. Children and adolescents from the 7th grade were invited to participate in this competition and creatively deal with the topic "European Football Championship". Thousands of students developed their ideas as part of the art class and designed designs as motifs for a stamp - a work of art that literally "goes around the world". In an elaborate multi-stage selection process, an expert jury finally determined the best works, which now adorn this "refreshingly young" brand series. The important topics of youth, art, sports, stamps and internationality were combined in the most exciting way possible in this large-scale competition - and the result is, without exaggeration, sensational: Countless works show the wide creative spectrum and the creative potential of Austrian youth. A fact that was certainly reinforced by the motivation to "perpetuate" your own work of art on a postage stamp. The draft of the first value of this series comes from the 19-year-old Corina Payr from Ebreichsdorf in Lower Austria. She is a student of the Oberstufenrealgymnasium in Eisenstadt. Her work is titled "Football Europe" and illustrates the UEFA EURO 2008 ™ theme in an original way.
