The new "adidas" special brand is - no doubt about it - a philatelic world sensation. Rarely was the trade press so unanimous: a similar product has never existed before. The UEFA EURO 2008 ™, which will take place from 7 to 29 June 2008, will be the largest sporting event ever held in Austria. Not only are the respective football national teams preparing intensively for this tournament, but also numerous companies. One of them is Österreichische Post AG, which accompanies this event as a national sponsor and organizes various events on this occasion. One of them is the publication of attractive special stamps, which not only delights the worldwide crowd of philatelists, but also the much larger group of football fans. The special brand "adidas" makes a sensational contribution to this themed brand series. The special feature is that the round and self-adhesive stamp is made of the same material - a plastic mixture with polyurethane - as the original UEFA EURO 2008 ™ ball (the so-called "Europass"), which was awarded at the draw on 2 December 2007 in Lucerne was presented! Countless analyzes and trials had to be done over months of work to ensure the printability of this material. The success that ultimately crowned this experiment justified the companies involved: a novelty was created on the international philatelic market - now it was possible to start the complex production process. "Adidas" - a global corporation with billions in sales - has a long history. It was in 1920, when company founder Adi Dassler developed his first shoe in his workshop in Herzogenaurach near Nuremberg. Today, the significant "three stripes" belong to the group of "big players" in the international sporting goods market. In developing new technologies and creating functional trend products, "adidas" is never offside - on the contrary: numerous sports world stars, such as David Beckham, Haile Gebrselassie, Yelena Isibayeva or Justine Henin "stand" - in the truest sense of the word - since many decades on this brand.
