From the Work of the Fire Department With motifs from the work of the German Fire Department, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued five multicolored special postage stamps. Special cancellations from November 22, 1977 to January 21, 1978 From the work of the fire brigade Fire protection in the German Democratic Republic serves the purpose of protecting the life and health of the citizens, social and personal property, the economy and the cultural values of society To protect fires and the dangers arising from them. Every citizen has the right and the responsibility to actively participate in the realization of this basic humanistic idea in his professional and social activity. The tasks of the fire brigades are fully integrated into the general objective. They perform both tasks to prevent and combat fires and to eliminate common driving. There are therefore local voluntary fire brigades in all cities and towns. In these honorary organs of the councils and in the voluntary fire brigades of the enterprises several hundred thousand male and female citizens are active in the interest and for the benefit of the socialist society. The Minister of the Interior and Chief of the German People's Police is under the central control of the fire department. These include the Fire Department at the Ministry of the Interior, the Fire Department in the Ministry of the Interior, and the Fire Department in Towns and Enterprises. Agriculture and forestry, due to the specific nature of their production, require a lot of attention to protect them from fire. The 25-pfennig value shows a corresponding landscape with the squirrel as a forest fire protection symbol. In the center a fire watch tower is visible. Furthermore, a fire truck and a tank fire truck - the most common vehicles of the fire department - from the production of the GDR are shown. The pumps of each vehicle produce 1,600 liters of water per minute.
