European edible mushrooms With the images of European edible mushrooms, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues six multicolored special postage stamps. After a series of European toadstools came out in 1974, a series with images of six edible mushroom species is now coming out. These species are predominantly those that occur in almost all of Europe and, because of their good durability, are also traded across national borders. 15 Pfennig value: Meadow mushroom (Agaricus campester) The Meadow mushroom belongs to the leaves or LamellenpiIzen. His epidermis is almost always white; the leaves on the top of the hat are delicately pink in youth and later turn chocolate brown to almost black. These discoloring leaves are the most important distinguishing feature over the white forms of the deadly poisonous green tuberous fungus. Near relatives of the meadow mushroom are cultivated for centuries in cellars, former tunnels and other well-defined temperatures holding rooms.
