Special cancellations from February 20 to April 19, 1990 Historical model aircraft 50 Pfennig value: Albrecht-Ludwig Berblinger 1770-1829 Despite the realization of the balloon flight in 1783, the swing flight tests were continued with muscle power. An imitator was the popular "Schneider von Ulm" named Albrecht-Ludwig Berblinger, a tailor of his profession. He constructed around 1810 a swing aircraft. In order to be prepared for the arrival of the king, he should have received permission to jump in his hometown Ulm on May 30, 1811 from a scaffold on the Adlerbastei. In the presence of the king and many spectators, he was to fly across the Danube. As might be expected, the arm power was not enough to hold the wings. They still worked together and Berblinger crashed into the Danube. Under the mocking laughter of his fellow citizens, fishermen pulled him out of the water, chased him out of the city, and destroyed him with slander.
