In 1907 Lord Robert Baden-Powell (1857-1941) organized a tent camp for young people in southern England. At that time, 22 young people took part in this first »scout meeting«. Today, 38 million scouts are active worldwide, including 260,000 in Germany. They organize international meetings, hike, camp and make music together and are committed to the motto "A good deed every day" for charitable actions. The 100th Anniversary of the Scouting Movement will be celebrated in July 2007 near London with a Jamboree, a World Boy Scout meeting that is expected to attract 40,000 participants. Special stamps worthy of the anniversary are published in the series »Europa« and others. also in Austria and Switzerland.
