Posters announce events and promote products. In their artful design they are often themselves works of art. So you are bringing "art to the streets". This goal was pursued in the post-war period especially the graphic artists of the artist group »novum«. They established poster art in Germany, also called poster art. Hans Hillmann, Karl Oskar Blase, Günther Kieser and Michael Engelmann, whose posters are shown on the new stamp issue (from left to right), were among the »novum«. Around 50 "PostAurope" mailing organizations are issuing "EUROPA" stamps on "Poster Art" this year.
