The joint draft for the European brands 1967 of the countries of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications (CEPT) was selected by the participating postal administrations at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Commission "Post" on 15 February 1965 in Lisbon. The choice fell on a motive suggested by the postal administration of Belgium, a creation of the Belgian artist Oskar Bonnevalle. It represents three interlocking gears that symbolize the cooperation of the PTT administrations in the CEPT. There is a decision that the drafts of the countries involved in the selection are not published.
