On 19 September 1960, the first German EUROPA brand appeared under the newly established European Conference of Postal Administrations. As decided in Montreux in June 1959, a French name was chosen for the new organization: »Conférence européenne des Admínistratíons des postes et des télécommunícations«, or CEPT for short. None of the EUROPA marks published in the next 30 years or so misses these four letters, at least not those of the CEPT Member States, whose numbers have steadily increased over the years. The era of stylized symbolism continued for several years under the CEPT. It ended in 1974, along with common, more concrete subtopics such as "Sculptures" (1974), "Paintings" (1975) or "Handicrafts" (1976).
