Johannes Kepler was born on December 27, 1571 in Weil der Stadt near Stuttgart. The mathematician, astronomer and theologian published his most famous work in 1609: "Astronomia Nova" ("New Astronomy"). In it he formulated his first two laws. These describe the movements of the planets around the sun for the first time scientifically correct. Kepler developed a uniform, for all planets equally valid theory of the orbit. The Württemberger thus laid the foundation for the development of today's modern astronomy. Space probes still navigate according to the tenets of the researcher. Johannes Kepler died on 15 November 1630 in Regensburg.
