This brand is part of the first permanent stamp series of the Saarland, the so-called »Saar I«. Here is marshal Michel Ney (1769-1815), Prince of Moscow. He served under Napoleon I as Marshal, but was shot in 1815 after the Battle of Belle Alliance. He deserted to Louis XVIII in 1814, but returned to Napoleon I in 1815.
