This stamp is part of the second series of stamps of the Saarland, the so-called »Saar II«. With letterpress imprint of the French currency franc = 100 centimes. The motif consists of the Benedictine Abbey Mettlach with its famous "Old Tower". The Benedictine abbey was resettled, destroyed and rebuilt throughout history.
