The motifs of these stamps show the famous German composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Born in Bonn on 17 December 1770, Beethoven began his education in his hometown and was already a member of the Electoral Orchestra at the age of 13. Before he moved to Vienna in 1792, he was a student of Mozart in 1787. Later, he was also a student of Joseph Haydn, which has influenced his works. His increasing deafness (since 1818) made it impossible for him to give further concerts and he began to compose only. Together with his teachers, Beethoven is today one of the most important representatives of Viennese classical music. His life's work includes nine symphonies, five piano concertos, sixteen string quartets, sonatas for violin, piano and Vioncello, as well as a triple and violin concerto and an opera. Beethoven died on March 26, 1827 in Vienna. Catalog numbers 1 to 4 and 6 to 15 were published in April, June, July, August, September and October 1947 and February 1948 respectively. For the sake of systematics, the editorial board records the first day of each month as the issue date.
