The stamp shows the Freiburg Minster. It was begun in 1200 as a parish church and funerary church of the Dukes of Zähringen in Romanesque style and finished circa 1330 in Gothic. After a late Gothic restoration in 1455, the cathedral was completed in the Middle Ages. The well-known stained-glass windows and high altar are by Hans Baldung (see catalog number 3). After 1827 it was also cathedral church of the archdiocese of Freiburg. (The catalog numbers 16, 17, 20, 21, 23, 25, 26 and 27 appeared in July and August 1848. For the sake of systematics, the editors recorded the date of issue 1 July 1948 and 1 August 1948).
