The motif shows Hans Baldung, who is also called Grien. The famous German painter and engraver was born around 1484 in Schwäbisch-Gmünd. As a pupil of Dürer he painted many religious and mythical pictures. His woodcuts and stained glass are also very famous. Baldung died in 1545 in Strasbourg.
