The stamp shows the Freiburg Minster. It was begun in 1200 as a parish church and funerary church of the Dukes of Zähringen in Romanesque style and finished circa 1330 in Gothic. After a late Gothic restoration in 1455, the cathedral was completed in the Middle Ages. The well-known stained-glass windows and high altar are by Hans Baldung (see catalog number 3). After 1827 it was also cathedral church of the archdiocese of Freiburg. (The catalog numbers 12 and 13 appeared in August 1947. For the sake of systematics, the editors note the date of issue August 1, 1947).
