The permanent stamp series shows images of industry, landscape and trade in the Saarland, here Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), a German composer with worldwide fame. He was promoted by the Viennese nobility. He fell ill in the 1800's with a severe hearing disorder, but also wrote famous works under almost total deafness. His most famous works include his nine symphonies. In the background the conservatory is visible. Since November 20, 1947, the French currency was 1 Franc = 100 centimes on the Saarland stamps. the editorial board therefore records the nominal values of catalog numbers 226 to 378 in centimes.
