Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: The famous German poet and naturalist was born on August 28, 1749 in Frankfurt am Main. Many of his well-known works reflected his personal feelings and exerted great influence on European literature. His "Urfaust" was written in the years 1772 to 1775, his Faust I in 1808 and Faust II in 1832. He died on March 22, 1832 in Weimar, after being knighted in 1782.
