On this day, the organized philatelists will »take to the streets« in many places and - together with the Deutsche Bundespost - present their beautiful and culturally valuable hobby to an interested public. With central events, with stamp exhibitions, advertising shows and exchange days they want to make it clear that stamps are more than just receipts for a transport fee. Stamps have long since become small-scale works of art, ambassadors and advertising media at the same time. They remind of important events, honor important personalities or sharpen our consciousness for treasures of culture and beauties of nature and landscape. At the same time, the tasks, goals and comprehensive service provided by the Association of German Philatelists, its 15 national associations and the German Philatelic Youth Association for nearly 100,000 registered members and a large number of related friends are presented to a broad public , All central events are under the motto "Environment and Nature Conservation" this year. In this way, organized philately wants to make it clear that it does not pursue "hermitage", but rather shows itself open to important social tasks and goals. Since 1975, Deutsche Bundespost has regularly issued a special stamp for the "Stamp Day". This year again the series »Historical Postmotions« will be continued.
