The Association of German Philatelists e. V (BDPh) commemorates the "Stamp Day" every year on the last Sunday in October. This year he falls on the 27th of October. For the first time, the 5 BDPh state associations founded in the new federal states are now involved in the joint action. With a variety of exhibitions, advertising shows, special post offices and special stamps for the "Stamp Day", the beauty and diversity of collecting stamps and post-historic documents should be made clear to a broad public in united Germany. Multi-colored reminder receipts and magnificent special cancellations, a total of 16 in number, are dedicated to the topic of »social services«. The Association of German Philatelists wants to express that he and his almost 100,000 members on the "Day of the Stamp" not only their own hobby in mind. Rather, the association and members of the association also want to devote themselves to social issues and contribute with their possibilities to make volunteer work in social services more clearly aware. Examples include: Mountain rescue, blood donation service, mine rescue, rescue shipwrecked, student pilotage, SOS Children's Villages u. a. The Association of German Philatelists e.V. serves as a top association of organized philately with its collection-oriented service facilities (Federal agencies for research, literature, protection of collectors and anti-counterfeiting) the protection of all collectors and thus the good of philately. With almost 2,000 clubs and youth groups, he provides "all-encompassing" valuable tips and suggestions for anyone interested in building value-stable collections. The special stamp of the Deutsche Bundespost for the first common »Stamp Day 1991« shows the scene of a letter delivery in the splendid Spreewald in the series »Historische Postmotive«. This motif from the Spreewald should not only be reminiscent of an idyllic landscape, but also of the national minority of the Sorbs, who have been able to preserve their ethnic, linguistic and cultural character. Motif issues with costumes and customs of the Sorbs are philatelically as interesting as the bilingual postmarks in the Lower and Upper Lusatia. It can develop beautiful special collections from it.
