Stamp collecting is one of the most popular hobby horses of our time. Millions of people take care of it alone in Germany. Stamp depictions take up historical, cultural, scientific, socio-political, geographic and countless other aspects and can inspire the collector to pursue in-depth employment. Stamp collecting is a pastime pursued by all age groups and all social classes. Among other things, the distribution rate is illustrated by the fact that approximately 500,000 subscribers are registered at the mail-order points for collectors' stamps in Frankfurt and Berlin. For example, you have to order 2,000,000 copies of each special stamp issue. The same number of stamps for the collectors' albums is estimated to be purchased again at the post office counters. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V. (BDPh) is the speaker organization of the stamp collectors. BDPh representatives are involved in the program and in the art advisory board of the DBP. The Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History e.V. is composed of representatives of the Deutsche Bundespost and the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten. The BDPh organization consists of 10 regional associations and about 800 clubs. The hobby horse "Philatelie" maintains the BDPh through approximately 150 exhibitions annually, through exchange days, through lectures, through training seminars, through the publication of specialist literature and through its public relations work. He is involved in trademark and stamp authentication and anti-counterfeiting, as well as research into philatelic and postal historical details and contexts in over 100 working groups. The association organ "Philatelie" with the supplement "Philatelie und Postgeschichte" is published quarterly in an edition of 56,000 copies. Since 1936, the stamp collecting associations annually, depending on local circumstances, on a Saturday / Sunday in the months of September / October the "Day of the stamp" by issuing a philatelic advertising show. On this occasion, the public, especially the youth, will be made aware of the diversity and beauty of collecting postage stamps, stamps and post-historical documents. These events are often associated with special post offices, which issue a souvenir stamp. On September 21, 1975, the President of the Association of German Philatelists officially opens the "Stamp Day 1975" on the 76th German Philatelist Day in the Berlin Congress Hall, to which the special postage stamp of the Deutsche Bundespost is dedicated. Shown is the post house sign of the Royal Prussian Posthalterei from 1776. The shield is made of wood and is painted on a blue background in a simple manner with the Prussian coat of arms. On the cartridge rests the royal crown, which - for the time improperly - fed red. Under the cartouche a post horn is attached. To the Prussian eagle, the painter has laid the chain of the Black Eagle Order in a greatly simplified form: The medallions are replaced by rosettes, it lacks the cross of the Order. Under the coat of arms is in a curved tape the designation »Königl. Preuss. Posthalterey ". The original sign is located in the Federal Postal Museum in Frankfurt am Main.
