Blumenstadt or Rosenstadt is the name of the town that adorns this year the postage stamp stamp in Austria: Tulln on the Danube is known for its many gardening centers, the horticultural fair and a large open landscape. As one of the oldest cities in Austria, it was already inhabited in the pre-Roman times; Today, more than 15,000 people live in the district capital, which is around 72 square kilometers in size. Tulln offers a high quality of life - in the Aubad, a natural lake on the banks of the Danube, you can swim, and take a leisurely stroll or bike on the Danube grounds and in the Au area. At this Danube site you will come across the impressive Nibelung Fountain, which was built because, according to a well-known legend, Huns King Etzel met Siegfried's widow Kriemhild in Tulln. Many come to the Lower Austrian city because of the public fairs, this year the largest exhibition hall of the federal state was opened here. Tulln also presents itself as an attractive museum town - two houses are dedicated to a great son: The Egon Schiele Museum focuses on the first creative phase of the artist born here; his birthplace at the train station can also be visited. Another artist also left his mark in Tulln: Friedensreich Hundertwasser's ship "Regentag" is anchored here. The artist lived on this former Sicilian transport ship for ten years, sailing to New Zealand. The parish church of St. Stephan, the old paddle steamer "MS Stadt Wien", the sugar museum and the Roman museum are other interesting excursion destinations in Tulln. The colorful motif of the special stamp shows the Nibelung city of Tulln with its two church towers, the striking Rosenbrücke and the nostalgic ship in the foreground. The nominal value is 2.88 euros, the surcharge of 1.44 euros is used for the promotion of philately.
