On June 1, 1913, for the first time, one of the k.k. Postal Administration Postbus developed the route from Reutte in Tyrol to Sonthofen in Bavaria. Among the personalities who were open to the new developments of that time, Dr. Friedrich Ritter Wagner of Jauregg, the brother of the well-known Nobel laureate, who was general postal director from 1906 to 1918. He was considered an enthusiastic "automobileist". For him, it was self-evident that the new achievements in this area were also to be used in the travel service of Swiss Post. But in 1909, besides the not so sophisticated technology of the buses, above all an economic aspect had a very negative effect. The 100 buses operating on 19 lines were supplied by seven different companies. There were a total of twelve bus types. In order to eliminate this malady, the construction of a uniform type of car was decided. The post office was responsible for the assembly of the standardized parts supplied by different companies. Already at the beginning of 1913, the "PostBus Mobile Operations Center" was completed, in March 1913, the first bus of the new unit type ET 13 was ready to go. Exactly 100 pieces were produced until 1918.
