The issue of this year's "Stamp Day" is intended to provide an opportunity to recall the story of this day. The primacy of the "invention" of the stamp is attributed to the Austrian official Laurenz Koschier. The suggestion to celebrate a "Stamp Day" came from the FIP (Fédération Internationale de Philatélie). In Austria, WIPA brought the high point in 1933 with an unprecedented world exhibition. It brought a tremendous boost to philately in the country. On the first Sunday in December 1935, this day was celebrated with an exhibition. In 1949, a mark was issued on "Stamp Day". The proceeds from this supplement were donated to the Association of Austrian Philatelic Associations with the requirement to use the amount to promote the stamp. At that time, the circulation was 680,000 and grew to 2.6 million last year. The brand image shows the front part of the figurehead of the former postal station Unken in Salzburg after a watercolor by Friedrich Zeller from the year 1890.
