On December 1, 1955, the 20th anniversary of the day on which the Association of Austrian Philatelic Associations celebrated the first day of the stamp. This event took place at the Museum of Art and Industry, now the Museum of Applied Arts. There was no special stamp for the occasion, but on the opening day a charity stamp with portraits of Austrian army leaders was issued. It was reserved for Austria to commemorate the day of the stamp as the first country in the world on 1 December 1935. Ongoing, other states followed suit. The main reason for introducing the "Stamp Day" was to offer collectors the opportunity to gather information about the accomplishments of their friends and their organization each year, and to give the laity an indication of the variety of philatelic related work , Perhaps one could also make them disciples of "philately". A special concern of the philatelic organizations has always been the promotion of young talent. Accordingly, the stamp motif of the special postage stamp shows a young man looking at his stamp album.
