The stamp depicts a globe projecting into an open stamp album, around which a ribbon with the inscription Stamp Day 1953 is wrapped. Magnifying glass and tweezers as requisites of the philatelist complete the picture. The addition of this stamp served the propaganda of the Austrian stamp at home and abroad and for the promotion of interests of Austrian philately. This should also be reminiscent of the artistic significance of the stamp going far beyond the scope of a purpose. For until the turn of the century, the stamps had mostly worn rulers' heads, heraldic animals or numerical drawings, so realistic representations stood in the foreground, so it was since 1906, artistic motifs that adorned Austrian brands. At that time, the Austrian Kolomann Moser together with the engraver Ferdinand Schirnböck had created a new brand style in the Bosnia edition of 1906. The day of the 1953 stamp should also recall this aspect of philatelic development.
