On December 1, 1950, the opening day of the "Stamp Day" exhibition, it was exactly 15 years to the day that this festival was celebrated for the first time in Austria and in the world at all. This occasion gave the Austrian philatelists the opportunity to celebrate the important commemoration day "A Century of Austrian Stamps". In 1850 the first Austrian stamps appeared. Since then, it has been a matter of course for the Austrian Post and Telegraph Administration to promote the brands and their collectors and to promote the popularity and distribution of the stamp. To adhere to this commitment requires endless effort and work, for which an individual would never muster the strength and perseverance. It must be many like-minded people who strive in life-long dedication to the realization of this goal: mediation of the pacifist thought and insertion into the world-wide community of philately. The brand image shows a brand collector who looks through a magnifying glass a letter, an opened brand album and in the background a map.
