The great interest in the federal congresses of the ÖGB is based on the fact that the Gewerkschaftsbund, since its founding in April 1945, has had a decisive influence on the developments of the Second Republic, with which it also shares its birth. From October 3 to 8, 1983, the highest forum of the Austrian trade union movement, the 10th Federal Congress of the Austrian Trade Union Confederation (ÖGB), met at the Wiener Konzerthaus. 390 voting delegates from the 15 trade unions, which are united in the ÖGB, predominantly works councils and personnel representatives, form this parliament of the work, which is held every four years for a week. In addition to the ordinary delegates, domestic and foreign guests took part in the event, and more than one hundred journalistic observers also followed the course of the congress. At the opening of the conference on October 3, hosted by Federal President Rudolf Kirchschläger took place, members of the Federal Government, the Mayor of Vienna, representatives of the parliamentary clubs, the church and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps participated. The brand image shows the emblem of the Austrian Trade Union Confederation.
